American (Philadelphia) Walnut Chest On Frame With Stocking Feet, Ca. 1750

About the Item

A very handsome antique American chest on frame with three (small) over four (large) drawer upper case with good figuring to the drawer fronts rests on a nicely contoured cabriolet leg frame with visible pegged construction. A moulded edge finishes the top of the frame, while the apron is scalloped and shaped on three sides above four cabriole legs fully carved in the round and terminating in distinctive paneled stocking feet. Brass hardware is original. Very good antique condition with good finish and well functioning drawers. Typical signs of age and use: some separations, minor wear, minor restorations. Provenance: inscription on the base refers to E. Humphreys of New York City, more recent provenance from a private Virginia collector who acquired it from respected dealer Philip H. Bradley Co., Downingtown, PA.
