French Louis Philippe Burl Walnut and Walnut Chest of Drawers with Marble Top
About the Item
French Louis Philippe burl walnut and walnut chest of four drawers. The four drawers are burl walnut, the carcass is walnut and the top is the original black marble which even has a beautifully petrified mollusc shell in the middle. The bottom drawer is deeper than the rest as it actually extends through the plinth area (see photo of drawers pulled out). There are fills in the sides where the timber has shrunk over time, but it is all firm and solid now. This chest has been through our workshops so the drawers now run smoothly and it is ready for every day use. Circa 1850-60.

- Condition:Repaired: The sides had shrinkage cracks and those have been filled. The drawers go in and out smoothly. The chest has been through our workshop so it is ready to be used on a daily basis. Wear consistent with age and use.
