About the Item

A French Louis XV style two-drawer light grey painted commode from the early 20th century, with discreet serpentine front, bronze hardware and cabriole legs. Born in the early years of the 20th century, this French commode displays the elegant characteristics of the Louis XV period. Painted in a light grey / white color, the commode features a dark grey top that provides a perfect contrast to the rest of the façade. Two drawers below showcase a subtle and restrained serpentine shape. Each dovetailed drawer is divided into three sections receiving the bronze hardware. Two Rococo handles flank a central escutcheon set inside a cartouche. The skirt, showing a rather calm silhouette, is accented in its center with a C-scroll motif. The commode is raised on four cabriole legs, whose curvy lines show the same restraint noticed on the rest of the body. With its elegant lines and lovely finish, this French Louis XV style two-drawer commode, circa 1910 will bring a graceful presence to any home, whether placed in a bedroom, living room or hallway.
