Italian 18th century Louis XV Period Cherrywood, Maple and Brass chest

About the Item

A most elegant Italian 18th century Louis XV Period Cherrywood, Maple and Brass chest. This wonderful chest from the Piedmont region is raised by cabriole Cherrywood legs leading to a finely detailed scalloped frieze below the two full width drawers. Each drawer displays elegant Maplewood scrolled inlays surrounding the Brass handles and keyhole escutcheons. The corners are outlined with inlaid filets continuing onto the inlaid side panels centered with rosettes. The top is decorated with an inlaid Maplewood filet which follows the shape of the commode, with a scrolled medallion surrounding a centrally place basket of flowers, executed in three shades of Maple and Cherrywood.
