Italian 18th Century Louis XV Period Patinated, Giltwood and Ormolu Roman Chest

About the Item

A stunning and extremely decorative Italian 18th century Louis XV period patinated, giltwood and ormolu Roman chest. The one door commode is raised by elegantly curved legs with block feet and fine foliate giltwood accents. At the center is one door decorated with three faux drawers each displaying most decorative interlocking geometric designs with a central ormolu pull which opens to reveal one shelf and original hardware. Richly carved scrolled acanthus leaves lead up each side to beautifully curved reserves below a mottled giltwood band. The top displays superb scrolled foliate giltwood designs set on a patinated background.
