About the Item

This is an old drawer storage made in Japan. This furniture was made during the Meiji period (1860s-1900s) and is a valuable piece of furniture that has transcended time and remains today. The drawer fronts are made of zelkova wood, and the expression of the wood grain slightly emerging from the wood is quietly beautiful. The handles are made of iron. The overall design is very simple, with no unnecessary decoration. The clean structure is beautiful and adds a quiet accent to the space. It is filled with the “subtractive aesthetics” of not making an excessive statement, yet giving off a definite presence. The piece has been carefully cared for over the years, and traces of its careful use can be seen everywhere. Minor scratches and changes in texture are also part of the furniture's charm and tell the story of its history. All drawers open and close smoothly and are very practical.
