This is a traditional Japanese mizuya tansu believed to have been crafted between the Meiji to Taisho periods.
Its composition—slatted sliding doors, lower drawers, and open shelving at the top—beautifully reflects the functional aesthetics found in classical Japanese storage furniture.
The black lacquer finish, now softened by age, adds a quiet depth and sense of weight to the piece.
The front sliding doors are constructed with vertical slats that gently obscure the view while allowing for airflow,
