About the Item

An impressive and extremely elegant pair of Italian 18th century Louis XVI period Kingwood, Tulipwood, Bronze, and Gris St. Anne marble chests from Tuscany. Each three drawer chest is raised by square tapered legs with fine inlaid Tulipwood fillets. Above the straight frieze are two drawers 'sans traverse' (without crossbar) showcasing the cabinet maker's high skill set. Each display beautiful butterfly veneered central panels creating a striking diamond design over both drawers framed within a Kingwood border and decorated with superb Bronze pulls and keyhole escutcheons with fine scrolled foliate movements. The top drawer displays an exquisite Greek key designed band with fine circular Bronze pulls. The elegant Greek key band is also repeated at the side above a superb quarter veneered panel framed within a Kingwood band. Above are the original Gris St. Anne marble tops precisely fitted within finely mottled borders.
