About the Item

Unique Victorian Carved Oak Mule Chest Made By Hewetson, Milner & Thexton Ltd , with hinged lid and the base is fitted with one drawer , circa 1880 . Trading between 1839 and 1910 under various names, Hewetson & Milner was a cabinet maker, warehouse operator and carpet dealer in Victorian London. With a site at 204 Tottenham Court Road, the company made quality furniture including linen cupboards, armoires and chairs. Other locations owned by the company included a connected shop on the Albert Mews and a location along Oxford Street. The business was wound up in 1907, with final notice given in 1911.
