Victorian Mahogany Bow Front Chest of Drawers, Ca. 1860

About the Item

Chest of drawers handmade in England in the 1860s using oak and mahogany veneer. The chest features four rows of drawers all showing beautiful handmade dovetail joints and bow front adorned with book matched mahogany veneer. The top row is divided into two smaller drawers, whereas the following three span the whole width of the case and provide copious storage space. The drawer all work well and can be used on a daily basis. The sides are flat and the top is made of chamfered boards framed on the sides. The edge of the top is rounded and adorned with cross-banded mahogany veneer. The chest is absolutely stunning both because of its size as well as because of its gorgeous patina and veneer decoration. The grain of the wood gives it a delicate and sophisticated look, and its overall lines are elegant and timeless. Because of its size this is a chest that can stand alone to fill and dress a space, but is also simple enough that can easily complement other piece around it.
