Amuneal's Charred Pine Bar Cabinet with Brass Countertop

About the Item

Amuneal's Charred Pine Bar Cabinet with Brass Countertop is a one of a kind textural statement piece. The patinaed and polished countertop and hardware contrasts the charred pine door and drawer faces that have been wired-bushed and burnt using the traditional Shou Sugi Ban process to raise the grain and highlight the natural character and long-grain of the pine. The grain is further highlighted by matching each veneer across the full width of the cabinet itself. The matching black interiors provide a rich storage display. Interior drawers pull out behind the door faces, ideal for bottle storage. These handmade storage units are fully customizable in dimension and finish. Like all Amuneal products, these special furniture pieces are fabricated in our Philadelphia-based furniture studio.

This piece is one of a kind version of the limited edition Una (Articolo Indeterminativo) buffet by the Italian woodworker Stefano Marolla. The title refers to the indeterminate article in the Italian grammar, as these pieces trick the eye playing on the ambiguity of the matter: A sturdy element like wood, hand-curved and levigated, looks like a light tapestry. The curves and the soft drapery of the wood are inspired by a long and attentive study on the usage of drapery in art’s history, going back from the ancient Greece to Bernini’s sculptures...
