Danish Modern Low sideboard in Light Oak, 1987 Style of Henning Kjærnulf

About the Item

Danish Oak Sideboard – January 1987 Beautiful and rare Danish sideboard in solid oak, produced in January 1987 — original sticker still intact. Price at the time: 9,885 DKK (~$1,310 USD in 1987), equivalent to 21,939 DKK (~$3,160 USD) today. The design is clearly inspired by Henning Kjærnulf, known for his 1960s brutalist/Nordic medieval style — carved legs, ornate patterns, and bold presence. This piece softens that look with a more minimal, cubist touch: the upper section features four clean-lined doors and two double drawers with sleek handles, offering a modern contrast to the richly carved, wave-patterned beam and sculpted legs below. It’s a bold yet balanced design — eye-catching and grounded, with a unique mix of elegance and edge. Condition: Outstanding. One of the best we’ve seen. Just a small gap on the top from age — not visible in use, and no structural issues. A true collector’s piece, full of character and history. All items are cleaned and checked for imperfections before shipping. Questions welcome.
