About the Item

Stunning Mid-Century Modern teak hutch by UK producer, G-Plan. The Danish Modern style sideboard looks Scandinavian but was actually made in the United Kingdom. The cabinet still bear’s the maker’s mark on the backside of one of the doors. This incredibly versatile hutch is a storage and function powerhouse. It’s essentially a bar, china cabinet, and credenza all in one! The one-piece unit has two tiers. The upper portion is two cubby spaces and bar cabinet at right. The center compartment can be exposed, or covered. Slide the left door toward the right to open the respective cubby, and cover the center cubby. The top left and center compartments each have a single wood shelf. These shelves are adjustable and/or removable. The top right compartment features a drop down door that opens to reveal a bar area. The glass shelf is adjustable/removable. This is the perfect space to store glassware or bottles for a bar. The bottom portion of the cabinet features a left and right cabinet. The left side is open cabinet space with no shelf. The right side has a single height adjustable shelf. This shelf can be transitioned the left cabinet if you wish. The center area features a column of drawers. The felt-lined top drawer has vertical dividers. This showstopper is an heirloom quality piece sure to be the cherry on the top of your collection’s sundae. Better yet, it is just as practical as it is beautiful. Please believe me when I say pictures don't this piece justice. The cherry wood shimmers and gleams with an almost indescribable Iridescence that looks like rivers of honey that form the ebbing and flowing grain. The tones and hues of the piece change depending on how the light hits it and where your eye catches it. You'll see amber, ochre, honey, and umber. We purchased this cabinet from the son of the original owners who had it custom made in the 1970's. Although it looks similar to the works to Jens Risom, Arne Vodder, and Brown-Saltman, this is a custom, made 1 of 1 credenza. There are many unique aspects to this piece that seem inspired by many designers of the period. A large cherry door on the left conceals open cabinet space with removable / adjustable shelves. The right has a faux-door panel that is made to resemble the one on the left. However, this faux-door is actually the front panel to a roll-out bar cart.
