Brazilian Modern Credenza in Hardwood & Brass finish, Jean Gillon, 1960s
By Jean Gillon
Located in New York, NY
Available today, this Mid-Century Modern Credenza in Hardwood with Brass finishes designed by Jean Gillon in the sixties in Brazil is the FIND of the year. The credenza has a rectangular structure made of Brazilian Rosewood, known as Jacaranda, with two main legs and two support legs on each side. It has five large drawers and four doors with shelves inside. The brass finishes are located in the joints, fringes and keys. There are few reasons why this credenza is one-of-a-kind: First, the high end wood work. This piece was commissioned for a private residence in Sao Paulo and it shows. The joints, the wood carving, the smooth curves in the drawers, even the hidden toothpick support legs are superbly finished. Second, the rosewood is of the finest quality which can be seen in the wood veins, the grain and smoothness of the wood. Lastly, design. This piece has all the components of a true Brazilian Modern piece with straight almost brutalist silhouettes softened with smooth curves (seen in the drawers and edges) that resemble Modernist architecture from Brasilia of the sixties. Owning a Jean Gillon piece like this is not just about acquiring a beautiful piece of furniture; it's also about possessing a part of Brazilian design history and culture. This credenza is a testament to Jean Gillon’s creativity and vision, and it would make an excellent addition to any interior space that values and appreciates the significance of this design. The credenza is showcased in our showroom next to Jorge Zalszupin’s bar cart...

Jorge Zalszupin Unique Sideboard L'atelier, 1960
By Jorge Zalszupin
Located in Roosendaal, Noord Brabant
Stunning and unique made sideboard designed by Jorge Zalszupin and manufactured by his own comany L'Atelier, Brazil 1960. This is a unique sideboard designed especially for a customer’s holiday home in Biarritz, France 1960. This sideboard is comparable to the modular system designed by Zalszupin in 1959. The difference is that this sideboard has much more elegant round legs on the corners and doors and is partly covered with leather. This was also seen at the modular system sometimes at the doors or panels. It has 3 drawers in the middle and on the left and right of that there are the leather covered folding doors. The sideboard is in fully original condition and the leather has a nice patina from age and usage. This comes from an interior with several pieces by Zalszupin which were imported from Brazil in the early 1960s. All the features this sideboard shows were also used by Zalszupin in other designs, the leather handles in his desks, the legs with the Jockey chairs...

This credenza effortlessly flexes into any Mid-Century Modern, modern, Danish modern or contemporary environment. Enfilade Novo Rumo, C. 1970 Bois Exotique Brésilien et Metal Chromé
By Novo Rumo
Located in PARIS, FR
This Novo Rumo row, made in the 1970s, in exotic solid wood and veneer, chrome-plated metal for the hinges, opening on the front by four doors whose interior has shelves, and by four drawers. The design is designed in a clean way to highlight the beauty of the exotic wood veneer making up a natural marquetry with a warm and deep tone. The sensuality of the wood is reinforced by the delicacy of the solid wood handles of doors and drawers that add curves to the design of the structure in straight angles. The organic character of this piece is also highlighted by the contrast offered by the polygonal hinges in exposed chrome metal. The Novo Rumo workshop, which has marked Brazilian modernist design with its inventiveness and high manufacturing quality, signs here...
