About the Item

Broyhill’s Chapter One Collection is officially harder to find and more sought after than the Raymond Loewy originals. With all due respect to Raymond Loewy, there really is something magical about the Chapter One line. Maybe they’re just more fun and approachable. Maybe it’s the proportions and practicality. Regardless, they’re one of our favourite collections of all time. This tall stack of sunburst yellow drawers looks like LEGO come time life. Exciting, bold yet practical, these deep drawers can hold heaps of stuff. The restoration team pulled no punches on this Chapter One Green Dresser, and the end result exceeded our expectations. The entire body and base was professionally sanded, primed and painted to match the original bright white. The laminate top and dark lime green molded plastic drawer fronts were finally buffed and polished to a glassy shine. It’s tough to see this one go, but we know it will be loved. Broyhill’s Chapter one collection borrowed from the plastic mold injection designs made famous by legendary designer Raymond Loewy. Like Loewy, this Chapter One Green Dresser employs the futuristic use of color and materials in a way that had not been seen before. The bright green plastic captures the playful spirit of the 1970s. The cabinet is supported by a white lacquered, curved plinth base that compliments the overall form of the dresser. Nine drawers roll-out on metal glides that have been adjusted and oiled to allow for easy functionality, and proper spacing. This colorful, curvaceous case-good could have blended in nicely on the set of 2001 A Space Odyssey. The space-age look has never been more desirable, which may help explain the recent scarcity of all things Chapter One. Complete your green Chapter one bedroom set with the high dresser and nightstand (sold separately). We also have matching pieces including a yellow double dresser, yellow nightstand, yellow record cabinet, and a yellow gentlemen’s chest. We also have white mirrors that are not yet listed. Inquire if you are interested in any of the other pieces we have in stock. A bold icon of 1970s Space Age styling, this Broyhill Chapter One dresser blends sculptural form, vibrant color, and mid-century modern charisma. It measures approximately 67½ inches (172 cm) in width, 20¼ inches (51.5 cm) in depth, and stands about 29½ inches (75 cm) high — generously scaled without feeling bulky, perfect to anchor a bedroom wall or to serve as a statement sideboard in a living space. The dresser is part of Broyhill’s “Chapter One” line, inspired by the legendary industrial designer Raymond Loewy, whose work for the French furniture manufacturer DF200 shaped the futuristic, streamlined aesthetics prevalent in mid-century design. With this collection, Broyhill translated those avant-garde concepts into furniture for the American home — plastic-fronted drawers (“Cycolac” polymer), high-gloss colored laminates, smooth curves, and bold hues. Here, the standout colorway is a vivid green paired with crisp white for contrast. The laminate top has been restored and polished to a high gloss sheen; the body and base refinished in pristine white to accentuate the era’s love for glossy, clean surfaces. The drawer fronts, molded and colored, retain their original form and structural integrity; the drawers themselves with minimal wear. Handles, plinths, and exposed edges speak with clarity, all contributing to a sense of joyful, futuristic optimism. Condition is excellent. Restoration has been conscientious — paintwork fully refreshed in white on the body and base, laminate top buff-polished to restore its sheen, drawers maintained and aligned for clean operation. There are no significant flaws or damage that demand attention: the piece presents as visually striking and ready for display. This dresser works beautifully as a centerpiece in modern interiors that lean into color, form, and showmanship: use it in a bedroom to replace more traditional oak credenzas; set it in a media room, entry hall, or behind a sofa to let its color and form energize the space. It pairs well with sculptural lighting, mirror accents, or artworks with color resonance. The vivid green hue acts as spotlight, while the white base and laminate allow it to coordinate with both warm woods and cooler metals. For connoisseurs of mid-century design, vintage futurism, or collectible Chapter One pieces, this dresser stands as a rare opportunity. It is not only functional — offering capacity, durability, and usability — but it is also a piece of design history, capturing a moment when furniture dared to be playful, experimental, and exuberantly modern. Chapter One Green Dresser: Model number 6315-30.

Raymond Loewy Inspired Green Chapter One Nightstand by Broyhill Premier
By Raymond Loewy, Broyhill
Located in Chattanooga, TN
This nightstand is a bold expression of 1970s Space-Age design, balancing futuristic materials with strong visual energy. It measures approximately 27 inches (69 cm) wide, 16 inches (41 cm) deep, and 21.5 inches (55 cm) high — proportions that offer enough presence to anchor a bedside while remaining compact and versatile. The body and base have been fully refinished: wood structure sanded, primed, and painted in a bright white lacquer that revives the crisp contrast so loved in the Chapter One line. The two drawer fronts are original molded plastic in dark lime green, their injection-formed curves and original texture preserved. The laminate top has been buffed to a high gloss, reflecting ambient light and amplifying the piece’s sculptural surfaces. Wear is minimal and respectful: the green plastic doors show some minor imperfections consistent with age, visible only under close inspection; the laminate top bears very light surface scuffing — again, only where someone might lean or set objects. Overall condition is very good, showing both testament to its vintage roots and clarity of restoration. This is more than a small bedside piece — it’s a design icon in microcosm. Its plastic mold fronts and chromed or gloss accents evoke the work of designers like Raymond Loewy, whose influence underpins much of Broyhill’s Chapter One line. The curves, gloss, and contrast make it ideal to pair with stark modern furnishings, mirrored or chrome accessories, or rooms that lean toward graphic color. Collectors drawn to landmark production furniture, futuristic plastic mold work, or anything in the rarified orbit of Space Age vintage will recognize this piece’s rarity: a well-restored original drawer front, clean structural form, and color contrast that still feels playful and confident. Well it’s 2025, and Broyhill’s Chapter One Collection is officially harder to find and more sought after than the Raymond Loewy orginals.
