About the Item

This is a fabulous quality, heavily carved solid oak court cupboard, made in England, circa 1850. The geometric moldings on the panels and doors are absolutely unbelievable. The quality and depth of all the hand carving is amazing. The door on the upper half opens to reveal storage space. The pair of doors on the base open to reveal a shelf with storage space. There are various faces, winged Putti and Sea Serpents carved throughout the cupboard. The door frames and all the moldings are beautifully carved. Both the right and left sides are paneled. There is a shrinkage gap on the serving surface on both the right and left sides (pictured). This is not unusual on a piece of furniture that is of this age. In my opinion it does not hurt the function, overall appearance or value of the piece. I just want someone to be aware of this. This is a mid-19th century piece of fine quality English Furniture in the style of the greatest 17th century English court cupboard. The overall condition and finish is wonderful. The cupboard measures 61 1/2 in. wide x 20 3/4 in. deep x 70 in. tall. This is very useful as a sideboard, a bar or general storage.
