French Cubistic Art Déco Cupboard Oak Cérusé, Amber Colored Mirror Glass, 1940s Extraordinary, cubistic shaped French Art Déco cabinet in solid chene ceruse with six different sujets in amber mirror glass door panels. Very deep engraving of the glass panels executed in a high-level individual workmanship. Size of one glass panel: 34 cm x 26 cm + wooden frame 2 cm The 2 doors are set as if in a frame, the body stands on a pedestal. Therefore, the object appears light-footed despite the solid construction. The front side of the strong wooden feet is decorated by ropes. The surface was waxed again and has a pleasant soft touch. The color of the object corresponds to a natural sand tone and combines perfectly with the amber mirror glass. The large brass key...

George II Period Walnut Fold over Top Bachelor's Chest
Located in Lymington, GB
Antique English red walnut fold-over top bachelor's chest. George II period, circa 1750. This small size Georgian (mid-18th century) bachelor's chest is in solid walnut. Very good color and old patination. The hinged fold-over top has the unusual feature of being channeled all round, a rarely encountered feature. Period mounts although not original. Retaining its large scale period side-carrying handles. Raised on apparently original shaped bracket feet. Overall in excellent condition. Measures: W 2'8" (81 cm) H 29" (73.5 cm) D 15" (38 cm). Ref: Arthur Negus illustrates a similar bachelor chest on p. 151, fig. 75, in his book 'English Furniture' (1969). He states: “these are extremely rare, particularly in walnut.” Ralph Edwards CBE FSA in his ‘Shorter Dictionary of English Furniture’ (Hamlyn, Fourth edition 1972) illustrates on p. 205, fig. 24, a bachelor chest, dated 1720-1725, of the same configuration, but veneered in walnut. When in walnut these antique bachelor chests...
