A 19th century English lap desk presented on a later custom stand. The burl veneer case is mounted with brass edging and fitted with a lock and recessed brass hardware. The hinged top opens to reveal a fitted interior with compartments for writing implements and papers, including a central lidded section and fold-out writing surface with gilt tooling. A side drawer provides additional storage.
