72" Desk or Conference Table by Lehigh Leopold

About the Item

71 5/8 x 35 5/8 x 28.75". Lehigh Leopold circa 1970. May be used as a conference table or executive desk. An exceptional piece of furniture, over engineered and industrial strength. The 1" brushed steel legs are complimented by an H-Base compromised of thick and large solid 1/2" thick x 3" wide aluminum stretchers bolted into place with large gauge hex bolts in 5 points beneath the table. The top is walnut. Entirely restored with a new conversion varnish finish to the walnut and protective clear coat to the steel and aluminum elements. This is a very heavy table and new adjustable feet have been added. Masculine and modern with sleek smart lines. This piece would suit a minimalist architectural designed space and use as a dining table or reception desk are also possible. Signed with metal label to underside. Produced circa 1970's judging by the materials. Ward Bennett designed for Lehigh and while we do not know the designer, this design fits with Bennett's ethos.

Zigzag coffee table display or seating furniture
By Harvey Probber
Located in South Charleston, WV
Multipurpose Furniture. We do not know exactly what this is. It could be a display table being 17.5" tall or it could be a seating arrangement with tables. Or it could be a cocktail table or merchandise display table. The smaller black laminate tops are 12" and the larger rosewood laminate tops are 17.75". It is overall 29" deep and 59.25" wide. It was purchased years ago from a family who owned a Lightolier store and had all the built-ins and seating done by Harvey Probber, and given the construction, it would be consistent. Especially the rubber feet at each stem is very much seen on Harvey Probber pieces. If you are seeking a unique piece, perhaps something to compliment a George Nelson Marshmallow sofa...
