Antique 18th century warm brown English Oak Queen Anne Slant-Front Desk

About the Item

On offer here is a beautiful Queen Anne slant front desk was made in England in the late 18th century. It was completely made in the finest quality European oak, including the drawers interiors. It stands on bracket feet with four drawers fitted with the original bat-wing period swing grip handles with solid brass backplates above. Its interior houses valanced pigeonholes, drawers and a central vault that is detachable. It features a locking pin, that locks the vault and well. Once taken out, the vault reveals two hidden compartments at the back. The well accesses the compartment that is behind the fixed upper drawer. The well features three hidden compartments as well. The sheer amount of secret compartments in this desk is unique and truly special. This beautiful slant front bureau has an exquisite color with rich patina and is fully authentic and complete. All locks are in working order and each lock has the original key provided. This desk has been cleaned and inspected in our workshop. Small gaps between the back cladding were closed and a fresh protective wax coat was applied.
