About the Item

A fine example of a Queen Anne style cherry wood desk hand signed on the underside of the top and inside the right drawer cavity by the maker “Donald Dunlap, Cabinetmaker, Antrim, NH”. Donald Dunlap (1934-2019) was the last cabinetmaker in the six- generation family of Dunlaps who began making furniture in New Hampshire in 1765. This hand crafted cherry wood desk has a rectangular molded edge top surmounting a case with five fitted drawers with raised panel fronts and sides, the center frieze drawer with a fitted interior, flanked by two drawers on each side, over a scalloped apron on each side of the kneehole, a carved radial fan and raised panels on the front of the desk, chamfered drawer bottoms, and dovetailed construction, and locking key, all supported by four cabriole legs terminating with pad feet. Very good overall condition, with some light surface scratches, minimal imperfections, and light wear commensurate with age and use. Dates to the late 20th or early 21st century.
