H.E. SHAW Antique Early 20th Century Mahogany Georgian Secretary Desk

About the Item

A Georgian style secretary desk by H.E. Shaw Furniture. Mahogany with brass hardware, wood drawer knobs, scroll pediment top with three finials, an elevated case, decorative cockbeading at apron and tapered twist front legs. Upper bookcase has two glass doors with fretwork that reveal two adjustable wood shelves. Lower desk area has two large drawers of dovetail construction. Slant front lockable drop down desk surface uses hinged support and reveals one small drawer, six open vertical and two open horizontal cubbies. One piece construction. Includes one key. Made in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, in the early 20th Century. Measures: Overall: 35w 18.25d 76.5h, Desk Open: 31d, Knee Clearance: 27.5h Exceptionally good antique condition with signs of light wear consistent with age and previous use. Doors, drawers, slant desk top and lock function properly. Has one key. Structurally sound and sturdy.
