About the Item

Early 1900s, solid oak and practical Gothic cabinet in amazing condition. This handcrafted and very practical-in-size Gothic Revival cabinet can be used as a small credenza, as a sideboard, as a house-altar, as a side-table etc. Its marvelous look and feel will immediately change the look and feel of the room it is in and it will lift your spirit every time you look at it. All two doors open and shut perfectly and both come with the original and good working locks and key. Apart from a few truly minor imperfections, both the entire outside AND inside of this cabinet are in superb condition. For the sturdy and durable construction, wooden joints (hole and tenon constructions) were used both to the front, on the sides and in the back. However, what makes this Gothic piece of furniture truly impressive are the multitude of sharp Gothic carvings both on the front and on the sides. The church window carvings are superbly symmetrical with perfect Gothic rosettes in the center and the warm patina of this fine antique is second to none as well. Finally, the open space underneith the doors (with the tiger oak 'floor') can be used for anything from newspapers or magazines to remote controls or for keeping candles etc. They certainly don't make 'em like this anymore and if you were able to find a craftsman who is still capable of making anything similar in quality and details, then a handcrafted cabinet like this would cost you a small fortune. This rare and superb condition cabinet therefor too is great value for money.
