Early 1900s, solid oak, and very rare Gothic cabinet. This beautifully and deeply carved oak sideboard from the early 1900s is in amazing condition. We have owned and sold our fair share of antique Gothic furniture, but never before have we seen an original, ebonized piece. This cabinet is unique on 1stdibs, but also very rare on the planet. The ebonized surface makes it look even more cool than a regular oak cabinet. In the first place it makes it look more ancient and secondly is also amplifies the depth and details of the hand carved Gothic church window panels. This handcrafted and very practical-in-size Gothic Revival cabinet can be used as a small credenza, as a sideboard, as a dry bar, as a sidetable etc. Its marvelous look and feel will immediately change the look and feel of the room it is in and it will lift your spirit every time you look at it. All three doors open and shut perfectly and all come with the original and good working, cast iron sliding pen locks. Apart from a few truly minor imperfections, both the entire outside AND inside of this cabinet are in superb condition. Have you noticed the books holding clergyman standing on the turned Gothic pilars on either side and also the perfect Gothic rosette carvings just below the top? They too are some of the elements that make this one of a kind ebonized cabinet the attractive antique that she is. Finally, the open space underneith the doors can be used for anything from newspapers or magazines to remote controls etc. This rare antique is great value for money. Late 19th C., French Gothic Revival cabinet, with interior shelf and central door. Heavily adorned with carved panels to front and sides. The front is comprised of panels flanking a central door. To each side of the door are two beautifully carved panels. The door has brass hinges and escutcheon. It locks with the key retained. The carving is mirrored on both sides of the piece, each comprising five carved panels. The red undertones suggest that this is a chestnut rather than an oak piece.
