French, c. 1870

Antique Sideboard, Edwardian Mirror Back, circa 1910
Located in Hele, Devon, GB
This is an antique, Edwardian mirror back sideboard dating to the early 20th century, circa 1910.
Adorned with finals and classical motif in the boxwood inlay featuring urns, garlands and swags lend this piece the Greco overtones favored at the turn of the century.
The rosewood displays beautifully with highly desirable grain detail in the counter top particularly; rich, warm tones glow in the sinuous graining beneath a highly polished finish.
Raised on turned front legs united with the side stiles by the lower tier, the cabinet offers a central cupboard with field panel doors inlaid with urn motif. Flanking the cupboard, concave shelving beneath a frieze decorated with inlaid swags around a central drawer dressed with brass pulls.
The shaped counter top features a molded edge detail with the rear mirror back rising with tiered shelving supported by turned columns capped with finials. A pair of square...

Vortex Cabinet

Covered in a veneer of Sycamore and Santos rosewood, the marquetry design challenges the perceptions of a usual cabinet. With buttons hidden within the marquetry, the secret doors...
