19th century French Gothic Armoire This impressive large Armoire is decoratively hand carved in a Gothic style Dating from the mid-19th century French Black in color, original ebonized finish with some overlayed wax/varnish finish in places The Armoire has 2 lower drawers and 3 adjustable shelves inside, the inner drawer is in bird's-eye maple veneer There is a very decorative crest and 2 finials on the top The crest, finials, top of the Armoire and mirrored door are all removable for transportation Dimensions Armoire 264cm height, 118cm width, 52cm depth Internal depth Armoire approx 35cm, shelf width approx 96.5cm bird's-eye maple drawer inner dimensions 77cm width, 30cm depth Lower black fronted drawer inner dimensions 88cm width, 37cm depth Mirrored door 179cm height, 88cm width Mirror 158cm height, 70cm width There is no key, the door does have a lock but we are unsure if it in in working order or not Across the Armoire there are various knocks, small chips and marks to some of the decoration and detail. there are some historical repairs that have been sympathetically made. the finials and crest have some cracks where the wood has opened up but these are easily hidden at the back. we can send more photographs of anything required. The finish is not smooth and areas show different tones and levels of wax finish on top of the ebonized original finish.

An incredible pair of late 19th century wrought iron wall lights/ torchiere's. This stunning pair of hand crafted Dragons are attributed to the Italian Master Ironworker Alessandro Mazzucotelli. These would have originally been holding candles but have been cleverly adapted to become the most unique pair of wall lights. Each Dragon grapsing two torchieres housing a single e114 (small screw in lamp holder) on each. They have been fully rewired and PAT tested. Wear and Patina commensurate with age 42cm Height, 30.5cm Width, 27.5cm Depth Mazzucotelli was born in Lodi to Giovanni Valente, an Iron Merchant originally from Locatello di valle Imagna, and Rosa Caprara. At the age of 18 he moved to Milan as an apprentice with his brother Carlo in the blacksmith store of Defendente Oriani, which he later took over in 1891. From 1902 to 1908 the company running the shop was called Mazzucotelli-Engelmann; later he worked alone, first in via Ponchielli and then in 1909 at Biocca Mazzucotelli collaborated with architects such as Giuseppe Sommaruga,Gaetano Moretti, Ernesto Pirovano, Franco Oliva, Ulisse...
