About the Item

Retaining its original manufacturers label, this Treitl-Gratz Art Deco two-tier rolling serving cart boasts curved metal frame and two tiers with walnut tray style levels and a turned wood long push handle. ALL original and sublime vintage condition. Treitel-Gratz Co. was founded in 1929 in New York City by engineer Frank Gratz and salesman Edward Treitel. The company became a highly respected metal fabrication firm, recognized for its craftsmanship and collaboration with renowned designers like Donald Deskey and Mies van der Rohe. The firm was influential in creating custom furniture and architectural elements that defined the Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern design movements. Their work included fabricating the first American-made Barcelona chairs for Knoll, contributing to the interior metals of Radio City Music Hall, and producing iconic pieces like chrome bar carts and sculptural brass and Lucite furniture.
