About the Item

The Story The eternal Greek story of sea and land braking into each other to the infinite, captured into one memorable piece – Crete Table. Monolithic, sculptural and functional artwork. A geometry with contrasting straight and fluid lines, that is hiding a message expressed through materials and of the way they interact between each other. The protagonists of the Crete Table are the materials and their apparent opposed affair. I was looking for strong contrasts between shapes, colors and transparencies – that could have the strongest impact with the less elements. There is also a bold presence in a discreet style, a table of charm that will stop the viewer’s time. Personal customization Witness the incredible journey that starts from your dream island, and end to the creation of this beautiful maritime table. Redefining uniqueness, with this one-of-a-kind design piece, I provide my customers the unique freedom to choose what island or part of an island that you wish to be sculpted and incorporated virtuously into the top layer of Crete Table; or let my creative flow build a totally unique landscape for you – no two Crete Table will be the same. Incomparable Every angle of Crete Table is truly incomparable and uncommon. Interest points come from all viewpoints, thus every single side is completely different from the other. You may find the variation even more significant at the bottom marble side of Crete table. Build process Each DelMare table is entirely made by Eduard Locota himself (Important: not from artisans or craftsmens), from acrylic glass & marble. Each artwork is accompanied with a certificate of authenticity signed and dated by the artist. It’s an incredibly labor intensive process that we’re making up as we go. Literally hundreds of kg of material were used for this monolithic functional artwork. Build process takes about 3 months for each table; please allow extra time for custom orders (materials and dimensions can be customized upon request) Dimensions Crete Table – Large: L 180 cm / W 125 cm / H 65 cm Crete Table – Small: L 135 cm / W 80 cm / H 45 cm *Note: because each piece is 100% unique & hand made, dimensions may vary slightly. Limited edition Crete Table is limited to 5 editions +2AP. About the artist: "In the contemporary context, channeled almost exclusively on our natural resources, once abundant natural resources such as fossil fuel, water and even clean oxygen, become rare commodities. In the current context focused on excessive and unsustainable consumerism, the 21st Century welcomes us with a Darwinian transformation for both men and nature. Evolution which leads to the development of a synthetic man living in a synthetic nature. Heavy topics as regeneration and sustainable environment are thrown into the arms of the future generations, that have not been born yet. Thus, the artist’s creations highlight the synthesis through alternative materials used, such as: synthetic marble (resin and marble dust), synthetic resin (Plexiglass), synthetic cement (Jesmonite), charcoal, wood, and so on. His works have a powerful conceptual plasticity but also physical plasticity, a concept that can be interpreted as modern works of the 21st Century."
