About the Item

This is a truly exceptional piece of Anglo-Indian furniture. Made from ebonised padouk, ebony and Coromandel with maple inlaid boarder. The figuring to the Coromandel timber is fabulous and is what makes this table so impressive and rare. Coromandel is a timber not often used for furniture and more for very fine boxes or tea caddies so to have an entire table top really is remarkable. The table is entirely original and in very clean condition with minor marks consistent with age. The base is finely carved and retains the original steel casters and steel swivel brackets to secure the table top in place. The top has a deep carved skirt which again is a sign of quality which holds the truly special top of Coromandel. Ideal use as a centre table in a grand entrance hall. Height 75cm Diameter 168cm
