About the Item
A Very Fine French 19th Century Louis XV Style Figural Ormolu Mounted Mahogany Center or Writing Table with a Brêche Vilolette Marble Top, attributed to Maison Millet, after models by Jean-Henri Riesner (1734-1806). The rectangular mahogany frame with allegorical female ormolu corner mounts flanked by laurel wreaths, a pierced floral and acanthus apron and fitted with a brêche vilolette marble top within an ormolu-leaf trim, raised of four cabriolet legs ending in scrolled sabots. Circa: Paris, 1880-1890.
Maison Millet was founded in 1853 by T. Millet and continued doing business until 1918. Known for their fine quality copies of 18th century models. Awarded a gold medal in the 1889 Exposition.
Jean-Henri Riesener (German: Johann Heinrich Riesener; 4 July 1734 – 6 January 1806) was a famous German ébéniste (cabinetmaker), working in Paris, whose work exemplified the early neoclassical "Louis XVI style".

- Condition:Repaired: Overall condition is very good, the marble top have had restorations. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor fading. A stunning quality center table which can also be used as a desk or writing table. Overall in great condition, touch ups, the marble top has had restorations, finely chase ormolu with its original gilt. Minor fading to gilt. Please view all images.
