French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Mahogany, Kingwood And Ormolu Center Table
About the Item
A stunning and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Mahogany, Kingwood and Ormolu center table/desk, in the manner of Linke. This wonderful single drawer rectangular center table is raised on four square tapered legs with wrap around foliate Ormolu sabots. The edges of the legs are decorated with fine spiral reeded Ormolu bands. Below the foliate designed Ormolu top cap of each leg is a bouquet of berried foliate elements beneath a flowing bowed ribbon and musical instruments. The three panel apron has a protruding central reserve which holds the drawer that is decorated with joyous cherubs holding baskets of fruits and flowers. The two panels flanking the drawer are decorated with flowing Ormolu bowed ribbons and swaging fabrics. There are two Ormolu rosette pendants above each leg that flank the front as well as both side aprons which are decorated with additional flowing bowed ribbons and swaging garments. The beautiful top displays a mottled edge which is wrapped in a fine Ormolu band framing the masterfully inlayed parquetry top showcasing the stunning wood grain and high level of craftsmanship.
