An Interesting Late 19th Century American Renaissance Style Hand Carved Oak Refectory Table The rectangular top with stiff-leaf edge and anthemion carved frieze, the end supports richly carved with a large eagle with wings spread, between female terms, standing on lion paw feet and joined by a stretcher with knopped baluster posts and arches. Inspired by French and Italian tables from the Renaissance period, this impressive center table dates to the late 19th century. Befitting of a mansion of the Gilded Age, compare a table of similar style in the drawing room of the Vanderbilt Mansion Hyde Park, New York.
