About the Item

A rare Chinese ebonized rootwood table, Qing Dynasty, dating to the second half of the 18th century to early 19th century. The impressive black lacquered low table having long, inset rectangular top, sculptural natural root formation creates striking openwork display. The scarce Provincial China antique, circa 1780, having good size and proportions, ideal for use as a cocktail drinks stand or coffee table. Dimensions: 14.5" High, 56" Wide, 21" Deep Platform top: 50.5" Wide, 16.5" Deep Provenance/Acquisition: Acquired from the reputable high-end auction house, Heritage Auctions, Dallas, Texas, catalog: Fine & Decorative Asian Art Signature Auction. Detailed Condition Report: Good overall condition, especially considering age. Original antique condition with beautiful warm, rustic patina over the whole. Rubbing and flaking to lacquer, organically distressed finish, especially to construction-related joints, a few chips, cracks, and scattered fine surface scratches and abrasions, otherwise good. Presents well.
