About the Item
Japanese antique Zataku low table for 4 people, a set of tabletop & wooden leg frame.
Aimed to make as Kotatsu table (heat table with brazier) in winter.
Tabletop material is made of single solid hardwood, thin but very hard, has certain heat resistance.
Original line paint remains on the backside, which gives another impression. There're 4 small bit holes to attach the legs.
Suitable size for coffee table for 4, or display table which is wide, durable & stable enough to put something heavy on it.
The leg part is called "Kotatsu yagura", wooden table frame of Kotatsu with square openwork top.
Made from Sugi cedar in 1910s-1920s, Taisho to early Showa era.
This table was originally used with the charcoal brazier specialized for Kotatsu inside the table.
We have the brazier in stock, and is still in use. If you'd like to enjoy Kotatsu with more traditional way, feel free to let us know.
