Cette exceptionnelle table basse antique est ornée d'une mosaïque à motif d'aigle, réalisée en tesselles de marbre et de pierre. Datant de la période romaine tardive ou byzantine (Ve - VIIe siècle), la mosaïque a été montée en table basse dans les années 80, transformant une pièce historique en un objet de décoration raffiné et pertinent.
D'une préservation exceptionnelle pour son âge, cette mosaïque conserve une grande partie de ses motifs décoratifs d'origine ainsi que la coloration originale des tesselles. Elle est montée sur un support en béton et encadrée, assurant ainsi sa solidité et sa préservation.

Les mosaïques de l'Empire romain tardif et de la période byzantine étaient réalisées pour décorer les sols et les murs des villas, basiliques et palais, représentant souvent des scènes mythologiques, animalières ou religieuses.
