Coffee Table in Black and Red Chinese Lacquer 19th Century
About the Item
Chinese hand painted coffee table in light wood from the 19th century, with an independent top hand painted tray with 37 layers of lacquer.
The table is lacquered in black with a gilt floral decoration.
The rim of the independent tray is lacquered in black with gilt hand painted decoration and the central part is in red lacquer with gilt, cream and black decoration with floral motifs, birds and butterflies. Origin: China
Period: Late 19th century
Conditions: Very good. Wear consistent with age and use. Slight cracking of the lacker and some chips of the lacker on the rim.
