French Midcentury / Art Deco Gilt Wrought Iron Coffee Table by Rene Drouet, 1940

About the Item

An Elegant and Timeless French Art Deco / Mid-century Modern cocktail table in the Modern Neoclassical spirit by iconic French designer, Rene Drouet, France, circa 1940. The subtle and quietly dramatic table is exquisitely hand hammered into lyrical wrought iron form and is hand gilt in copper color gold leaf. The glass top is hand made via a process in which it was cast in sand and is cream by the Saint Gobain glass workshop in Neuilly, just outside of Paris. The piece expresses the ethos of France during the late 1930's / early 1940's and is considered a rare classic of the period.
