About the Item
An elegant and timeless, stunningly pure design statement: A French Mid-Century Modern coffee table in the style of Mathieu Mategot in hand-wrought iron that has been enameled white. The piece is round, in a circular form with round, concentric circle center base that forms part of the main support of the piece. The circle within the circle is ancient symbol brilliantly used to create an aesthetic statement and a functional work of sculpture. And, the piece can be re-enameled, if desired, to match taste.
Mathieu Mategot was the most important iron worker / designer in France during the 1950 period. He pioneered a lighter, more transparent and modern sensibility in his creations that led the vast changes in style taking place after WW II.
