About the Item

A Pair of French Post-War Chrome & Brass Coffee Tables Attributed to Maison Jansen Each table with an oval glass top and a mahogany rim, supported on a chrome base with curved legs and open trellis design with brass accents. French, circa 1970 The renowned interior decorator and furniture maker Maison Jansen dominated the world of interior design throughout the twentieth century. Marking a new era in furniture design, the company's last CEO launched the 'JANSEN Collections' in 1972. With some items designed in collaboration with Alain Delon, the Jansen furniture is characterised by chrome, brass, and copper accents. The firm closed the doors of their famous 9 rue Royale address in Paris in 1989. Alain Delon, born in 1935, is a renowned French actor and one of the most iconic figures in European cinema. Delon's career took off in the late 1950s, and he quickly gained fame for his striking good looks and charismatic on-screen presence. Often hailed as the "male Brigitte Bardot," Delon became a symbol of French elegance and sophistication. Apart from his successful acting career, Delon delved into furniture design in collaboration with the prestigious Maison Jansen during the 1970s. His passion for design and aesthetics led to the creation of a line of furniture that reflected his impeccable taste and style.
