Philip & Kelvin Laverne Bronze Coffee Table Dogwood Floral

About the Item

Philip & Kelvin Laverne Bronze Coffee Table, "Dogwood Floral". Philip Laverne (1907-1987) started his design studio in the 1940's, and became famous for creating luxurious pieces in bronze, brass, and copper. The Dogwood Floral coffee table is one of his celebrated works, capturing the elegance of dogwood blossoms with hand-etched floral patterns on the bronze surface. Table is rectangular in shape with a curved top with bronze faux bamboo legs. Laverne describes this table in his 'The Art of Philip Laverne'' catalog as, "Three separate bronzes inlaid by hand create one solid background of magnificent light and dark golden brown bronzes. The design is the delightful 18th century Dogwood Floral of France, which moves softly along with this sculptured shape. The French Chinois leg is of carved bronze".
