About the Item

Equal parts function and artistry this visually stunning coffee table, designed by the highly influential Peter Løvig Nielsen, features clever storage spaces cut into all four sides of the cube. With two slender drawers, a six-bay magazine rack and larger cubbies this exquisite cube-shaped coffee table is as versatile as it is aesthetically pleasing. Able to roll 360 degrees atop a set of castors this table can easily be rolled to any location throughout the home or office space with ease. Born in 1925, Peter Løvig Nielsen was a leading name in Danish design from the modern Scandinavian movement of the 1950s and 1960s. Renowned for his elaborate desks, tables and storage furniture, Nielsen, like many of his Danish contemporaries, favored high-quality woods such as teak, rosewood, walnut and rosewood. His designs are recognizable by their organic, rounded shapes and tapered legs as well as clever uses of storage space which is on full display with this extraordinary coffee table. With its clever use of storage space, high-quality Burmese Teak with exceptional old-growth woodgrains and monolithic design this elegant coffee table is ideal for those searching for an authentic Danish masterpiece that is as functional as it is aesthetically captivating. The mix of solid and teak composition is in overall very good shape showing only minor signs of wear such as surface scratches, the above mentioned veneer repair, a subtle water ring, and minor areas of discoloration (all of which can be seen in the detail photos provided). With that said the wood is in overall very good original condition. As purists, we strive to keep our pieces in as original condition as possible. However we offer a full-range of expert restoration services from carpentry to upholstery to fabrication. The two sleek drawers open and close with ease and there are six small cubbies on one side perfect for magazines or books. There is one small shelf that is missing - however we can have one custom-made if desired. Thanks to the castor-feet the table easily rolls 360 degrees adding to the versatility of this already incredibly versatile table. The table also includes a glass topper that functions a protective surface for the table top. This stylish table is highly-functional, structurally sound and ready for a literal lifetime more of use.
