About the Item

Sculptural Burl Wood Coffee Table by Söwe Konst, Sweden, 1970s Designed by Sigvard Nilsson & Kjell Andersson A breathtaking example of Scandinavian organic modernism, this one-of-a-kind coffee table was handcrafted in Sweden in the 1970s by Söwe Konst. The tabletop is made from a beautifully figured slab of natural burl wood, preserving the raw edge and undulating forms that highlight the wild, expressive nature of the material. The rich grain and swirling patterns create an almost topographic surface, each inch uniquely sculpted by nature. Supported by four solid, curved wooden legs in a complementary golden tone, the piece exudes both warmth and raw artistic power. A functional artwork that blurs the line between furniture and sculpture. • Designer: Sigvard Nilsson & Kjell Andersson • Maker: Söwe Konst • Origin: Sweden • Period: 1970s • Material: Natural burl wood • Dimensions: Length: 146 cm (57.5 in) Depth: 65–85 cm (25.6–33.5 in) Height: 50 cm (19.7 in) Excellent vintage condition.
