About the Item
Aluminum base and thick Glass Coffee Table, often called the "Snake," designed by Knut Hesterberg for Ronald Schmitt. This amazing piece was made in the 1960s, in Germany. The base of the table is aluminum shaped in the style of a snake, hence the name its often referred to. The aluminum base follows a curved shape wherein the thickness of the material varies from thin to thick. A thick clear glass top sits atop of the aluminum base. The clear glass top is perfect to showcase the beautiful organic shape of the base. This coffee table is definitely a coveted piece of design that is sought after. In overall great vintage condition. Some signs of wear present, consistent with age.

Knut Hesterberg
Knut Hesterberg is a world-famous German sculptor who started his career at a graphic art and design studio in Zurich, Switzerland, where he came into contact with the architect and artist Max Bill, who had a great influence on his future work. He has exhibited his sculptures all-over Europe, and many of his large-scale sculptures are permanently installed in public spaces throughout Germany and a few in Italy.
