Chinese Late Qing Dynasty Elm Scholar's Table with Custom Lacquer Finish

About the Item

A Chinese late Qing Dynasty period elm wood scholar's table from the early 20th century with carved aprons, side stretchers and custom lacquer. Created in China during the late Qing Dynasty period in the early years of the 20th century, this elm wood scholar's table was originally used as a work table by artists and writers. The table features a rectangular top with central board and slightly beveled edges, sitting above an apron carved on two sides. The table is raised on four splayed legs connected to one another through side stretchers placed at varying heights, and adorned with reeded accents. The table has been newly and professionally refinished with a dark brown lacquer. With its clean lines and dark patina, this Chinese late Qing Dynasty period elm wood scholar's table from the early 20th century will make for an elegant addition to any home, placed in a living room, study or foyer.
