18th Century Narrow Writing Desk

About the Item

A narrow and elegant 18th century lady's desk, or writing table, in natural wood with embossed leather top, and a single frieze drawer. Raised on four slender cabriole legs, this petite Louis XV style desk features a rectangular top inset with soft brown leather, which has been embellished with embossed giltwork around its border and with additional flourishes in each corner. The apron drawer is wide and shallow, and is beautifully lined with cherry-coloured velvet. A gilt bronze knob, with chiselled rose motif, adorns its front. The table is in excellent antique condition, with some marks and small losses in places, as would be expected with a piece of this age and usage, but this does not in any detract from its vintage charm.
