19th Century Inlaid Mahogany Ladies Writing Desk, Denmark

About the Item

Distinctive and elegant, this small ladies writing desk has decorative inlaid brass filigree embellished with colorful stone and shell details along the top. Please enlarge photos to appreciate the attractive rich mahogany grain in the top and striking turned barley twist legs. There is an upper rim that neatly encloses the top portion of the desk with finial accents. Note that this desk does show wear from over 150 years of use. There is some missing and raised brass filigree, along with other missing inlaid pieces. Some old cracks and repairs seen in the wood. One key is included to use with locks on the three drawers which each have an inlaid front. All scratches, cracks, dings, and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this lovely writing desk.
