This is a vintage correspondence desk. An English, solid teak library or writing table in the manner of the Cotswold School, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1950.
Strikingly figured desk of generous proportion and superb craftsmanship
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in very good order
Solid teak an arresting sight of fine grain interest throughout
Rich caramel hues radiate beneath the wax polish finish
Delightful pierced gilt metal gallery rail to the upper surface
Pair of raked cabinet doors open smoothly, resting neatly against the desktop
Door dressed with an oval brass lock escutcheon, with working inset lock — key present
Usefully sized interior arranged with document storage above the desk and inside each door
The desk measuring 80cm x 57cm (31.5" x 22.5"), over a comfortable kneehole height of 60.5cm (23.75")
Elegantly shaped brackets frame a set of three drawers, wider to centre and detailed with cockbeading
Each dressed with circular, gilt metal drop handles over pierced foliate backplates
Standing upon a quartet of tapering legs, terminating in arrow feet
