About the Item
Stately early 20th century Edwardian desk featuring a pair of neoclassical style Wedgewood Jasperware medallions on the front. Beautifully crafted from mahogany with a desirable aged patina on the finish. The case is fronted by three storage drawers and two storage doors on each side opening to a unique pull-out shelved area. The right side of the desk has a large pull-out work surface. The top of the desk has clipped corners and is inset with a faux parchment white writing surface. The case is heavy and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The desk is supported by canted square legs ending with stylized paw feet. The Jasperware medallions depict Greco-Roman figures in white bas-relief over a classic Wedgewood green. One drawer has a deep, dark stain as seen in photos visible from the inside. Elegant profile and adornments. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
