French 19th Century Louis XV St. Kingwood Inlaid Secretary

About the Item

A most elegant French 19th century Louis XV st. Rosewood, ormolu, and Brocatelle d’Espagne marble secretary desk. The two door five drawer secretary is raised by fine cabriole legs with beautiful pierced richly chased foliate ormolu mounts with berried laurel garlands flanking the arbalest apron centered by an exquisite foliate ormolu mount in a striking satin and burnished finish. The front displays three drawers and two doors each displaying stunning veneered designs showcasing the wonderful wood grain and adorned with ormolu foliate keyhole escutcheons. The two doors open to reveal two drawers, two shelves, the pull-out with its original fitted leather writing surface, and all original hardware. The sides also display similar striking veneered designs while above is the original Brocatelle d’Espagne marble top with a fine mottled border.
