About the Item
A cabinetmaker-built Danish small desk with the most stunning and deep patina. Its light brown tone carries a walnut-like glow. Horizontal carvings on the cabinet doors lend the piece a strong, elegant line. The desk has a good small size, and is anchored to the ground by eight solid points. Rounded and angular shapes merge in a beautiful interplay. Built in the 1960s by a cabinetmaker apprentice as his final masterpiece, this is entirely handmade from solid, old oak—its grain tells a story you won't find in newly produced furniture.
Notable details include an inner keyhole, three wooden top drawers, all locks in working order. It feels made to house treasured possessions. The atmosphere is grand—almost regal.
Note: The opening for a chair is smaller than modern standards, measuring 62 cm high by 42.5 cm wide (24.4" H x 16.7" W). Still, the working height suits most modern chairs. We recommend a mid-century chair or a modern one with forward-set legs or wheels.
A one-of-a-kind desk from Denmark’s proud craft tradition—by an unknown but gifted hand. Blending elements of Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and Mid-Century design in one timeless piece.
The desktop has a visible crack, as shown in the photos. However, the surface remains completely level, and the flaw is purely visual.
The desk stands firm, and all drawers and functions operate as they should. It is constructed in three separate pieces: the two side cabinets and the top, which rests securely in place due to its weight, ensuring full stability. The desk will be shipped assembled.
